Add Dependent Child to PR Application
A principal applicant for Canadian permanent residence may include their dependent children as accompanying family members. Including children in the PR application ensures they receive permanent residence at the same time as the principal applicant and avoids the need for separate sponsorship or immigration applications.
This $500 + HST per child service covers the additional legal work required to prepare the child's portion of the PR application — including the child's IMM forms and required supporting documents. It is an add-on to the primary PR application service.
A dependent child is generally defined as a biological child, adopted child, or step-child who is under 22 years of age and not married or in a common-law relationship. An exception applies for children who are 22 or older and have depended substantially on the financial support of a parent since before age 22 due to a physical or mental condition.
Government fees per child depend on the immigration stream: $260 for economic PR streams (Express Entry, PNP, caregiver, SUV, self-employed) and $175 for family class, H&C, and protected person streams.
